Sharing on Valetines Day

Happy Valentines Day!

I wanted to quicky share with you guys my new haircut! For most of my life, I've always had long hair. I just feel like you can do more with it - even though I'm usually a throw-it-up-in-a-ponytail type of girl, I like the security long hair brings me. My hair was getting pretty long and shedding everywhere (although, granted my hair sheds still even now), and I usually curled it (if I had the time to) or put it up in a ponytail/bun. I straightened it a few weeks ago and my hair was too long that it just looked odd on me. Like it was too much hair.

Anyways, I've been thinking lately that I wanted to cut and donate my hair, and decided to take the plunge last week! It was an impulsive itch to get my haircut, but I like the way it turned out.

Here's my hair before:

And here's the after:

I don't know much about the type of cut or what my stylist did, I brought in a few photos to give him an idea of what I wanted and he delievered! I really like it, and I feel it makes me look older too. ;)

The only thing I'm not a fan of is that I'll have to straighten it inorder to style it. Butttt, my hair dries a whole lot faster, and it takes me about 15 minutes to straighten my hair now anyways.

I'm going to have to look into learning how to blowdry my hair straight, because it'll help give me a sleeker look than just straightening alone does.

I ended up cutting about ~12 inches off.

Originally, I was planning on donating it to Locks of Love, but after doing some research, I learned that LOL actually sells the final wigs. LOL makes wigs from the donated hair to sell to children who have undergone hair loss due to a variety of medical conditions or treatments. A final wig can cost anywhere between $800-$1000, and the price that the patient pays is according to how much the child's parents make. So, if the child's parents have a low income, they pay less for the wig, if the child's parents have a higher income, they would pay a higher amount. Regardless, they still have to pay for the wig.

I don't think LOL profits of the sale of wigs, but I like the idea that a family going through the stressful period of cancer and treatments and recovery don't have to worry about an added cost for their child.

After doing some research I learned about Pantene Beautiful Lengths which donates the final wigs to women who have experienced hair loss due to cancer.

Unfortunately, one of PBL's donation requirments is that hair cannot be dyed with a permanent dye, which my hair has been.

After a little more research, I've discovered Angel Hair for Kids which also donates the final wigs and my hair follows the donation requirments.

I couldn't imagine undergoing hairloss at a young age, and I hope that my donation can help bring a little ease to a young girl or boy's life.

It might take a little more of an effort to do my hair now, but for a good cause, I don't mind.

I hope everyone takes today to remind their friends, family and loved ones how much of an impact that they make on your life. Happy Valentines Day! ♥♥♥♥ :)

2 Different FOTD's Inspired by 2 Lovely Bloggers

Here's a look I did on Christmas eve. My family and I don't celebrate Christmas, but we took the opportunity to go out for dinner. I did this look after seeing a FOTD that Janella from Bold & Beautiful posted using MAC's Expensive Pink eyeshadow. I've recently discovered her blog and she posts a lot of beautiful looks. I have a few colour combinations that she's posted FOTD's on that I can't wait to try out. Expensive Pink eyeshadow is one of my favourite eyeshadows, and I loved the look she created so I decided to recreate it. Here's my take on it:

USED:
UDPP
MAC Perky paintpot
MAC Expensive Pink e/s (on the lid)
MAC Satin Taupe e/s (outer corner and crease)
MAC Sketch e/s (outer V)

MAC Studio Fix powder foundation in NC40
MAC Studio Finish concealer in NW30 (as undereye concealer)
MAC On A Mission blush
MAC Harmony (to contour)
Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray

MAC Hug Me l/s

Sorry I didn't get any close ups of this look. But it's pretty simple and the placement is the exact same as most of my other looks.

Andddd, here's a look I did today. I've seen this photo on someones tumblr:

This photo is from a FOTD that Ronnie at Bows & Curtseys posted here (she also has a video tutorial here!). If you aren't fimilar with Ronnie's blog, I HIGHLY suggest you check it out. Her looks are stunning and I get a tonne of inspiration by just flipping through her blog.

I loved the rainbow liner. Bethany/iwanted2c1video on YouTube did a tutorial based on this here aswell. I decided to do my own take on it. I was actually heading to work today, so I didn't decided to narrow it down and use one of my favourite colour combinations - green, blue and purple. Here is my take:

USED:
UDPP
MAC Untitled paint
Wet n' Wild Color Icon e/s in Brulee (all over)
MAC Cork e/s (in crease)
MAC Soft Brown e/s (in crease)
MAC Femme Fi e/s (right under brow arch)
MAC Vanilla pigment (on tearduct and lower lashline)
MAC Blacktrack fluidline
Urban Decay Graffiti, Peace and Ransom e/s (as the coloured liner)

I didn't get any good close-ups once again, sorry! I was in a rush to get to work, and I think I need to play around more with my camera to see what settings/lightings work best for clear photos.

I got a few compliments on this look, and I really liked it!

I've been trying lately to get out of my comfort zone and try out new eyeshadow combinations and techniques, but it's a lot harder than it seems. If you guys have any favourite bloggers or gurus that you get a lot of inspiration from, please share! I'm always looking for photos or looks that other people to do try to recreate and get my out of my rut!

FOTD: Sunset Inspired

I did this look a long time ago, and loved how it turned out - but of course I couldn't find my camera so I could do a FOTD. I ended up recreating it last week and this is probably one of my favourite looks:

USED:
UDPP (primer)
MAC Soft Ochre paintpot (base)
MAC Goldmine e/s (inner corner)
MAC Expensive Pink e/s (middle of lid and lower lashline)
MUFE # 92 e/s (outer corner/crease)
Wet n' Wild Brulee e/s (highlight)
MAC Blacktrack fluidline
Cover Girl Lash Blast Fusion mascara
Bonne Bell Eye Definer e/l in Glow (on waterline)
MAC Night Maneuvers e/s (brows)

MAC Studio Finish concealer in NW30 (under eye circles)
MAC Prolong Wear Foundation in NC35
MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural in Medium Plus
NYC Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder in Sunny (to contour)
NARS Deep Throat blush

I can't remember what I used on my lips :/

The photos kind of wash the look out, but I love how it turned out.

Also, I've been having trouble with doing the final installment of my brow tutorial, but I will have that up soon!

FOTD: Matte Blue Sugarpill Inspired

I was on YouTube the other day and I came across this tutorial using the Sugarpill Burning Heart Palette which intrigued me to check out the Sugarpill website where I came across the Cold Heart palette. I was seriously tempted to purchase it, but I already have MUFE # 92, which is suppose to be a dupe for Sugarpill's Poison Plum - and I already have a matte white and matte black, and probably have a matte blue so I decided against it. I ended up playing around with what I had and came up with this look:

*None of the links to the Sugarpill website are affiliate links.

USED:
EYES:
UDPP (primer)
MAC Soft Ochre paintpot (base)
Wet n' Wild Pride palette matte white e/s (inner corner)
Blues from 88 Original palette (lid and outer third)
MAC Deep Truth e/s (crease)
Matte black e/s from 88 palette (in outer V)
Wet n' Wild Brulee e/s (as highlight)
MAC Femme Fi e/s (right under brow arch)
MAC Blacktrack fluidline
CoverGirl Lashblast Fusion mascara
Bonne Bell Eye Definer e/l in Glow (on waterline)
MAC Night Maneuvers e/s (to fill in brows)

FACE:
MAC Studio Finish concealer in NW30 (on undereyes)
MAC Prolong Wear Foundation in NC35
MAC MSFN in Medium Plus (to set foundation)
NYC Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder in Sunny (to contour)
NYX blush in Angel
MAC Pinch o' Peach blush

LIPS:
Rimmel Moisture Renew l/s in Nude Delight
Revlon Super Lustrous l/g in Life's A Peach

I've never done an all matte look before, and I really liked how it turned out! There are a few things I would of changed, like maybe using a different highlight because it came off too white - but that's because I really packed it on to bring down the blue a bit because I had blended it to far up. I also would of added false eyelashes, but I was in a rush and didn't want to mess the look up and was wearing glasses anyways.

I also created an angle by using my concealer to clean it up. But looking back at photos I should of blended it just a bit because it looks odd with the highlight colour not blending into my skin.

Overall, I'm happy with the look and liked how it turned out. Definitely got my creative juices flowing (:

In A Rut?

A lot of the time I'll go to get ready and end up sitting in front of my vanity staring blankly at all my eyeshadows trying to think of a creative combination. Ten percent of the time, I end up with something new, while the other ninety percent I end up frustrated because I can't think of anything, and end up doing a look I do all the time.

I came across this simple way to come up with different eyeshadow combinations and its really inspired me to come up with different and unique looks, so I thought I'd share this with you - because I know a lot of people go through the same "in-a-makeup-rut" phase every now and then.

Basically what I did, was I went through all my palettes and wrote down every single eyeshadow on a tiny slip of paper. I put all the slips of paper into a little jar (in my case, an empty q-tip holder). Whenever I have extra time to play around with make-up, or I'm in a rut, I'll pull out two or three of the slips of paper and create a look based on the eyeshadows that I pulled.

Easy, no?

An example of combination I pulled, I would do Deep Truth all over the lid, with Carbon in the outer corner/crease OR Carbon all over the lid, with Deep Truth in the crease, or as liner or on the lower lashline.

This combination is a little harder, but maybe All That Glitters all over the lid, with Nocturnelle in the outer corner/crease with Sweet & Punchy in the tearduct and lower lashline OR Sweet & Punchy all over the lid, Nocturnelle in the outer corner/crease, and All That Glitters to highlight.

It also helps me pull out some of the eyeshadows that I don't get a lot of use out of. Obviously, sometimes you'll pull a crazy combination that might not work, but that all goes with the process. I definitely find it helps pull me out of my "same-thing-over-and-over" phase.

This is just an idea for you guys to help utilize more of your collection, and also to inspire you to be more creative with your make-up!

Let me know if this works out for you, or if you do anything similar - I'd love to hear!

EDIT:

I also wanted to share this website. It lists TONS of combinations to use with specific MAC products.

If you aren't using MAC products, look up a MAC colour that is similar to the colour you have that you want to do a look with. It's a really great resource and there's literally thousands of different looks possible!

Pheonix Inspired FOTD

I was in a rut the other day and came up with this look. It reminds me of something dragon/phoenix/firey inspired.

USED:
NARS Smudgeproof (as a primer)
MAC Painterly paintpot (as a base)
MAC Expensive Pink e/s (inner third of the lid)
MAC Coppering e/s (middle of the lid)
MAC Nocturnelle e/s (outer third of lid and in the crease)
MUFE # 92 e/s (outer V)
Wet n' Wild e/s in Brulee (as highlight)
MAC Blacktrack fluidline
Rimmel Max Volume Flash mascara
Bonne Bell Eye Definer e/l in Glow (on waterline)
MAC Night Maneuvers e/s (to fill brows)

MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NW30 (on undereyes)
MAC Studio Fix Powder in NC40
MAC On A Mission Beauty Powder blush

MAC Hug Me lipstick
MAC Nymphette lipglass

My face looks lighter than my neck, but my foundation matches in real life, and it's weird because I use a powder foundation :/

Bold Pink Lips!

I came across Lindah's FOTD the other day - which you can view here - where she did a look with a really pretty pink lip and it inspired me to do the same!

Now, at this point I had already had my make-up done, so I just decided to play around with a bold pink lipstick - MAC's Girl About Town - but I ended up liking it, and I was kind of lazy to take it off, so I just wore it to class. :P

I realize the eyes don't really go with the lips, but I thought why not. It reminds me of something 80's inspired.

Anyways, on to the look:

Used:
UDPP
Annabelle Kohl e/l in Indigo
MAC Deep Truth e/s
Almay One Coat Nourishing mascara
Annabelle Ebony e/s (for brows)

Annabelle Fuchsia l/l
MAC Girl About Town l/s

I really loved the colour, but I was so self-conscious that I would have lipstick on my teeth! But I would definitely rock a bold lip like this again. ;)

Mermaid Look Using Urban Decay Deluxe Shadow Palette

I did this look yesterday using Urban Decay's Deluxe Shadow Box Palette. I bought this palette about two years ago, and I realized I've never done a look using just the palette, so I came up with this look. I've been trying to utilize more of my collection because sometimes I go for the same colours over and over again.

Anyways, here's what I came up with. Sorry, there's no full face shots because I didn't do the rest of my face and I couldn't be bothered, lol.

I realize I should of ran a spoolie through my eyebrows to blend in my eyebrow filler more.

Used:
UDPP
MAC Cakeshop shadestick (as a base on the lids)
Urban Decay Peace e/s (on the lids)
Urban Decay Fishnet e/s (above the crease)
Urban Decay Ransom e/s (on the outer V/inner crease)
Makeup Forever #92 e/s (in the outer corner, but it's hardly noticeable)
MAC Orb e/s (as a highlight)
MAC Shroom e/s (highlight right under brow arch)
Annabelle Vanilla Chilla e/s (in tearduct)
MAC Blacktrack fluidline
Covergirl Professional Super Thick Lash mascara
Maybelline Lash Stiletto Voluptuous mascara
Bonne Bell Eye Definer Glow e/l
Annabelle Ebony e/s (to fill in brows)

I've actually been into applying more colourful looks lately, but I suck when it comes to taking pictures.

Till later guys!

P.S - When did blogger become a TV ad? I keep seeing reviews for the same stuff over and over. No offense to those who do them, but BRING ON THE FOTD's guize! I need some inspiration! :P

Sea Blue FOTD

Here's a look that I did yesterday. I've been in a rut lately and haven't done anything beside really neutral looks. So I came home yesterday and looked at my Urban Decay Deluxe Shadow Box and decided to incorporate two bright colours, Peace and Graffiti, into a look.

This look is based off a tutorial that Fafinettex3 posted on youtube that you can view here. I liked how it turned out, but I don't think I could wear this too school. It seems too dramatic to me. I would wear these colours to school, but I think the reason why it looks too dramatic for me is because I feel like the colours are brought too high on my lid. I need to work on keeping them lower in my crease, oh well.

Anyways, here's the look:

Used:
UDPP (as a primer)
MAC Painterly p/p (as a base)
Urban Decay Graffiti e/s (in the inner corner of the lid)
Urban Decay Peace e/s (on the middle of the lid)
Coastal Scents 88 Matte Palette - Blue e/s colours (on the outer corner/crease)
Annabelle Ebony e/s (a little in the outer V)
MAC Blacktrack f/l
L'Oreal Carbon Black Voluminous mascara

I didn't have anything on my brows, face, cheeks or lips cause.. to be quite honest I was lazy, haha.

Welcoming 2010 With A Recreated Look!

Happy New Years everyone! I hope everyone had fun and stayed safe. I actually spent 3+ hours of my New Years Eve in the hospital. :/ I was out with my dad and sister and my blood sugar went really low and I went unconscious. So they called an ambulance and the paramedics had to bring my blood sugars up. After I was better I had to wait in the hospital to get checked out by the doctor. But I'm good now so I'm thankful for that. (: I didn't do anything after that, we got out at 6:00-ish, so we just went to eat and then went home.

Anyways, a while ago Jacqueline at A Brilliant Brunette posted a look that I had to recreate. You can view the original look HERE.

Used:
UDPP (as primer)
L'Oreal HiP Duo in Wicked (gold side used all over the lid)
MAC Espresso e/s (in outer corner)
MAC Blacktrack f/l
L'Oreal Voluminous mascara
Urban Decay Ransom e/s (on lower lashline)
Annabelle Glitterama liquid liner in Kryptonite

MAC Mineralized Skinfinish in Medium Plus
NYX Powder Blush in Mocha

Annabelle Lip Shine in Breathless

Pictures kind of suck cause I did this look at night, but I really liked it. It's simple and but fun. (:

Till later!

Last Post Of The Year? & Blog Anniversary?!

Hey guys! I know it's been a while since I've posted, but I've just been so busy lately with work and holiday hours and all that good stuff. But the holidays are almost over so hopefully everything will go back to normal soon. I hope everyone had a good Christmas though!

Anyways, here's a quick FOTD that I've done that was kind of "Bollywood inspired." It didn't really turn out that way but oh well. I had this Sally Girl eyeshadow in "Brick" that I bought a while ago and never got around to using, so I pulled it out for this look.

Used:
UDPP (as a primer)
MAC Painterly p/p (as a base)
MAC Woodwinked e/s (all over the lid)
Sally Girl Brick e/s (outer third of lid)
MUFE # 92 e/s (outer crease)
MAC Blacktrack f/l
L'Oreal Voluminous mascara

MAC MSFN in Medium Plus
MAC On A Mission blush
MAC MSF in Cheeky Bronze

MAC Brave New Bronze l/s
Annabelle Lipshine in Breathless

Also, I noticed I hit 100+ subscribers! I know everyone says this, but I never thought 100 people would be interested in my blog, haha! But, all jokes aside, I really want to say thank you to all you guys who read my posts and give me tips, tricks and comments and all that good stuff! And, my blog's anniversary is coming up in January!

I'm thinking of hosting a giveaway or a contest or something, but I'll definitely let you guys know. Till later!
